The little camera pictured above is my newest acquitision. Although my
newest it is by far my oldest. The model was made by the
Agfa company between 1932 and 1937. Germany has always producted some of
the world's finest optics and Agfa Kamera-Werk
AG in Munich was no exception. This was one of the first cameras to feature
their Solinar lens thought by many to be Agf's finest.
The Compur shutter offers a wide variety of options. Since getting it I
have compared it to many cameras of that era and I find it to
be advanced for the day. The shutter offers - Sec ring: T, B, 1, 2, 5,
10, 25, 50, 100 and 300 / f-Stops: f-3.9, f-5.6, f-8, f-11, f-22
and f-32. I have only shot 5 rolls to date and I have made several dummy
mistakes ... double-exposure being my favorite ... grin.
You camera buffs may like knowing that the Solinar is a 4 element / 3 group
and is a Karl Zeiss clone. In 1902 Dr. Paul Rudolph
while working for Zeiss developed the Tessar and it became the most famous
camera lens of all times. "Tessares" is Greek for the
number four.
